About Our Cubs: We currently have 36 members in our cubs, this is one of the biggest number of cubs we have ever had in Donnycarney cubs. At our meetings we would play games, do badge work, learn campfire songs, plan and organise our meetings and events for the year. Cub Scouts is a great way for young boys and girls to explore new activities, learn life skills and make new and long time friends. During the scouting year cubs get to take part in many new and different activities such as badge work, hiking, knots, Basic First aid, camping, cinema days and many more. Camping: Every year our cubs would go on camping weekends away where they would learn how to put up tents, learn survival skills and wud take part in activities such as forest games, night games, hiking and one of the most popular one's, our campfire's. Knots: Sum of the Knots our cubs would learn during the year are, Reef knot, Clove hitch, Bowline and Figure of Eight Knot. First Aid: One of the most important things for any person to know in life is first aid. We try teach our cubs basic First Aid, everything they would need to Know that they might come across at any time: Cuts, broken bones, head injuries, burns and how to deal with these situations. Badge work: There are so many different types of badges that a cub can Earn, such as fist aid, photography, art, sports and many more. Hiking: Every year we would try take the cubs on 2 or 3 hikes, this is always a great day out for the cubs and leaders and gives the cubs a chance to walk and see new places, weather it be Howth-Sutton, Bray Head or over the Dublin mountains.
